The Commerce, Growth & Identity (CGI) team is dedicated to three business-critical areas at Disney that will help transform its media business. They create seamless user experiences for consumers who can choose from a wide range of subscription plans, enabling more choice and flexibility. The CGI team is also focused on building innovative and cutting-edge capabilities that will drive subscriptions, engagement, and monetization across Disney’s streaming and digital products.

The Identity Engineering team provides critical consumer facing access, security, and identification services across The Walt Disney Company (TWDC). This includes our variety of brands like Disney, Hulu, ESPN, ABC, Marvel, and National Geographic to name a few. Nearly every digital consumer experience across the company relies on Identity Platform for mission critical business operations, including streaming video content on Disney+, booking Disney Parks and Resort vacations, playing ESPN Fantasy Football, buying products from Shop Disney and many more. These identity services are responsible for over 300 million guest and fan accounts, and billions of transactions per year.

As part of the team, you will be tackling cutting edge issues that come with cloud-based infrastructures, platform resiliency requirements, security, and data migrations at scale. These challenges are regularly given on tight timelines, and we are looking for experienced engineering team members able to make the right decisions and drive them to execution. This position will serve as a primary contributor on the team as the team navigates the changing technology landscape.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement new solutions, optimize and enhance existing services, and document changes and new features

  • Support, system troubleshooting and monitoring, debugging, and analysis

  • Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, documentation and release, as well perform code reviews

  • Deliver code with thorough automated testing and help monitor and support apps in production

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience in highly scalable, distributed software components

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

  • Proficiency in server-side Java Virtual Machine programming languages

  • Proven experience of cloud application architecture and engineering, AWS is preferred

  • Professional experience with Java based web services, RESTful framework and GraphQL, and both relational and non-relational database platforms

  • Experience with large scale distributed system architecture

  • Ability to trace through various services and determine root cause when issues occur

  • Knowledge of common performance issues, as well as a working experience with logs, monitoring tools

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA is $118,000 to $158,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
