The Walt Disney Company Employee Relations Manager (PH) in Burbank, California

The ER Manager (PH) will support the Corporate function by providing clients with ER expertise and services, including conducting investigations and creating findings and recommendations, advising on ER issues, interpreting policies and practices, and reviewing performance management documents. The ER Manager will also help on various ER related projects, including work related to ER data and analytics, and ER training for HRBPs and employees.

Responsibilities : Investigations

  • Under the direction of the ER Senior Manager, conduct employee investigations, including witness interviews and delivery of findings and recommendations.

  • Partner with HRBPs, Security, Legal, Management Audit and others to execute thorough investigations.

  • Input cases into the ER database case management system.

  • Assist with the response to employee complaints with state and federal administrative agencies.

Other Core Employee Relations Work

  • Assist in the determination and implementation of reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

  • Assist HRBPs with the assessment and review of performance management, including the execution of Performance Advisories and Performance Improvement Plans.

  • Assist with the data reporting and analytics of ER cases for themes, trends and root causes to provide insights and recommendations for decision making and prevention of ER risk.

  • Promote knowledge and understanding of company policy and of relevant employment laws through coaching, presentations, and training.

  • Assist in ongoing review and updates of the Employee Policy Manual, Teacher’s Guides, and procedures.

  • Build relationships with key ER partners, including Human Resources, Legal, Security, Management Audit, and others.

  • Assist with other project work as needed.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 5 years Human Resources experience, or 4 years in Employee Relations, or 3 years in legal practice required.

  • Strong decision making, problem solving, and root cause/analysis skills

  • Demonstrated consultative and credibility assessment skills

  • Ability to assess sensitive and complex employee relations issues in a confidential, objective, and systematic manner

  • Ability to work collaboratively, lead and influence at all levels within the organization, and make decisions while keeping all partners and leaders informed

  • Strong understanding of all aspects of employment and human resources related laws, regulations, policies, principles, concepts and practices, including Title VII, ADA, ADAA and FMLA

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with strong time management and prioritization skills

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including verbal and written

  • Excellent writing, grammar, and punctuation skills

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Proficiency with SAP

  • Knowledge and understanding of The Walt Disney Company policies and procedures

Required Education :

  • Bachelors Degree

Preferred Education :

  • Juris Doctorate
