The Department

Animation Finance drives financial planning, reporting analytics and executive decision-support

for the Walt Disney Animation Studios. We are building a world-class team and looking for a

talented individual to help support our dynamic and esteemed business.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Finance & Planning, this position will play an integral role at Walt Disney Animation Studios. As part of the finance team, the individual in this position will take the lead in collecting, summarizing, and interpreting financial data for the business unit’s management and the Studio. They will complete the close process and forecasts and will also assist with the Annual Operating Plan and Annual Five Year Plan. The role will involve providing exceptional support for business partners. This is a highly influential role, requiring confidence and a collaborative approach, forging positive partnerships with a variety of internal and external individuals at all levels.

Responsibilities : Planning

  • Partner with leadership to create budgets and forecasts. Track and report accurate and timely progress and variance analysis against those targets.

  • Build models, run planning scenarios and analysis and metric reporting functions.

  • Provide insights to leadership on key assumptions, levers, and risks, through thorough understanding of drivers of plan, progress against goals, and scenario and metric analysis.

  • Anticipate problems, adapt to changing scenarios, strategize, and recommend solutions.

  • Communicate issues and problem-solve using critical reasoning, active listening, and knowledge of animation production processes.


  • Institute and maintain proper accounting of costs.

  • Assist and advise management by assessing data and issues with financial implications for relevance and importance.

  • Help to communicate and execute on studio-wide strategic initiatives.

  • Complete a timely and accurate forecast and close process.

  • • Assist with completion of the Forecast Process, Close Process, Annual Operating Plan, and Annual Five Year Plan.


  • Work with the leadership team to identify ways to minimize film costs and maximize efficiencies by helping to set realistic production and budgetary goals, establish controls, and monitor progress against those goals.

  • Build strong relationships with finance team members, division department heads and management team, as well as studio accounting and process teams.

  • Serve as an informal leader/mentor to the rest of the team.

  • Possess a thorough understanding of the financial software, reporting systems, company policies and procedures. Provide assistance and training to co-workers in these areas.

  • Develop dynamic financial models and drive strategic analyses.

  • Identify and implement process improvements and document policies and procedures.

  • Critically evaluate and communicate financial information and recommendations to senior management in digestible formats and language.

  • Exhibit self-motivation, quick learning, adaptability, and desire to go above and beyond in

  • completing responsibilities while successfully balancing and prioritizing multiple projects independently or in a team setting.

  • Other duties as assigned or necessary.

  • Ability to work additional hours outside of traditional timeframe.

Basic Qualifications :

  • 2-3 years of prior work experience, preferably with a top-tier business consulting firm, investment bank, media/entertainment company, or other applicable environment/role.

  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving, financial modeling, and forecasting skills; strong background in project management as well as MS Excel modeling, tool building, and scenario analysis, PowerPoint, and a major ERP package (preferably SAP and potentially other film cost tracking packages).

  • Detail-oriented and ability to make sound cost accounting decisions.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to balance big picture issues and detailed analysis.

  • Highly organized, ability to work well under pressure, prioritize and handle multiple projects with competing demands on resources.

  • Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently.

  • A self-starter who can work independently and with others to drive projects to timely completion.

  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships.

  • Proven financial modeling and forecasting experience.

  • Customer service oriented.

  • Passion for the entertainment industry, animation and technology.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • SAP experience or knowledge is a plus.

  • Visual effects, digital animation or any entertainment industry a big plus.

  • Capacity to thrive and grow in a creative, dynamic, results-oriented environment, and to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once.

Required Education :

  • BS degree in Finance or Accounting.BS degree in Finance or Accounting.

Preferred Education :

  • MBA with focus in Business or Economics preferred.
