The Customer Relationship Management team is responsible for creating and cultivating direct-to-consumer relationships with The Walt Disney Company’s most strategic customer segment. It does so by managing the Disney Visa Cards business, which is both an operating unit, as well as a cross-business unit loyalty program. The department is made up of 35 professionals across multiple disciplines (Marketing, Finance, Business Operations) who work closely in a highly dynamic environment with cross-functional partners across Disney, our bank card issuer, and our payment network.

In general, team members must have the following traits (in addition to the specific job requirements called out below):

  • Actual operational experience in their functional area (e.g. financial analysis)

  • Extremely strong relationship skills due to the need to work collaboratively with multiple internal and external partners

  • Strong data analytic skills and comfort working in technical environment

  • Prior work experience at Disney and familiarity with one or divisions of Disney is very helpful given the cross-line of business nature of the work

The Manager, Business Development will assist the Corporate CRM team in the following activities:

  • Global financial services guidelines

  • Business planning and decision support

Business development and negotiations

Responsibilities :

The Manager, Business Development must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects at any one time across Corporate CRM. Key responsibilities include:

Global financial services guidelines

  • Develop and maintain clear and comprehensive guidelines for The Walt Disney Company on promotional and co-branded opportunities in the consumer financial services industry

  • Revise guidelines based on changing consumer, payments, and contractual landscapes

  • Serve as lead on reviewing and providing specific feedback on all domestic and international proposals related to variety of activities in the financial services space such as one-off promotions, alliance relationships, licensing agreements, and co-branded relationships

  • Solicit input from range of internal partners including Treasury, Brand, franchise leads, legal, etc.

  • Assess promotion for adherence to guidelines

  • Suggest modifications that would allow for approval

  • Log all requests and communications in promotional repository allowing for consistency when assessing future promotions and creating institutional knowledge

Business planning and decision support

  • Manage critical elements of department’s annual five-year planning process

  • Collaborate with executive team on the identification of key business growth initiatives

  • Provide analytical support on growth initiatives by developing and updating a variety of quantitative analyses and pro-forma financial models

  • Lead operational processes related to key contractual commitments (e.g. tracking marketing spend, rewards program solvency)

  • Create compelling, persuasive presentations to communicate key learnings and recommendations to executive team

Business development and negotiations

  • Support negotiations with external partners - existing and new - through development of analysis, term sheets and other materials (US only)

  • Support negotiation of all contract amendments and other changes or enhancements to current deal, working closely with Legal (US only)

  • Lead development of market assessments and modeling for potential new financial services products (global)

  • Advise internal partners on deal terms and contracting for financial services products (global)

Basic Qualifications :

  • MBA from top-tier school

  • 4-6 years of relevant work experience (e.g. in new business development, strategic planning, investment banking, consulting, financial analysis, or similar function)

  • Advanced quantitative analysis skills, including pro-forma and other financial modeling

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task across key business initiatives in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with great influencing, partnering and collaboration abilities

  • Strong research, problem-solving and negotiating skills

  • Refined written and verbal communication skills

  • Very strong attention to detail

  • Self-motivated, accountable and highly organized

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
