As the Walt Disney Archives (part of Disney Corporate Communications) grows and expands its services, collections, programs and outreach to both internal/external clients and employees’ company wide, the department is seeking an enthusiastic, forward-thinking, motivated professional eager to join its team.
Identifies and applies descriptive and technical metadata to digital assets routed through the Archives’ digitization pipeline.
Processes preservation and access level files for ingest into Digital Asset Management System and Digital Preservation Repository.
Ensures digital files and projects are accurately tracked from the point of description (metadata application) to ingest into the Digital Asset Management system and Digital Preservation repository.
Responsible for the understanding, maintenance, and adherence to Walt Disney Archives’ Taxonomy, Controlled Vocabularies, and Metadata Schemes.
Responsible for data normalization, and data cleansing as part of a continual process to keep all system and database information in alignment with one another.
Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues related to hardware, software, system performance and overall operational status.
Updates databases and system information as needed
Existing sources of information used to derive metadata will vary in completeness and breadth. A strong understanding of the history of the Walt Disney Company, and the ability to perform research when needed is critical for success in this role.
Collaborates with project team and Archivists.
The tasks assigned will range from routine, predictable operations to more complex or nonstandard processes. These tasks will be carried out in accordance with the specifications, policies, and procedures of the Walt Disney Archives, as well as other applicable Cultural Heritage standards.
Supports Archives’ special events as needed.
Basic Qualifications :
- 1- 2 years in a Library, Museum, Archives, or Records Management setting.
Preferred Qualifications :
- 3-5 years in a Library, Museum, Archives, or Records Management setting.
Required Education :
- Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Education :
- Master’s in Library Information Science, Museum Studies, or related discipline preferred.
