The Walt Disney Company’s Direct-to-Consumer and International segment (DTCI) is a global, multiplatform media, technology and distribution organization for high-quality content created by Disney’s Studio Entertainment and Media Networks groups.
DTCI includes Disney’s international media operations and the Company’s direct-to-consumer businesses globally, including the upcoming Disney-branded direct-to-consumer streaming service, the Company’s ownership stake in Hulu, and the ESPN+ sports streaming service, programmed in partnership with ESPN. BAMTECH Media, developer of the ESPN+ and Disney-branded streaming platforms, oversees all consumer-facing digital technology and products across the Company as part of the Direct-to-Consumer and International segment.
The DTCI business is seeking a Senior Analyst, Segment Planning & Technology that has the ability to take data and translate it into sound business recommendations that enable the businesses to make nimble, actionable decisions. This person will partner with the DTCI segment consolidation leadership team and LOB Operational and Finance teams to deliver on the strategic, financial and operational goals of the business. The Senior Analyst will support the consolidation of segment results and be expected to recognize opportunities across segment businesses. In addition, she/he will partner with stakeholders across The Walt Disney Company to drive operational plans and analyses.
The ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with multiple stakeholders across the Company will be critical to success. A successful candidate will have a deep understanding of finance and media, and leverage this knowledge to identify new opportunities to drive growth.
Responsibilities : The role requires the ability to multi-task across numerous ad-hoc projects including, but not limited to, the following:
Support coordination and preparation of forecasts, Annual Operating Plans and Five Year Plans
Develop, enhance, update and/or maintain financial planning models
Support the preparation of cause-of-change analysis for each forecast, Annual Operating Plan and Five Year Plan
Work with key stakeholders, operating groups and finance team members to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the financial planning process, assumptions and results
Support the preparation of Management reporting and analysis
Support and prepare ad hoc special projects, financial analysis and reporting
Interact with internal and external business partners to remain informed of business challenges and issues that affect our business
Stay informed about the business and changes affecting the business, including investigating new forecasting and business methodologies
Create engaging, informative, well-organized presentations
Basic Qualifications :
3+ years of related work experience, preferably with a media/entertainment, technology, or start up environment preferred
Excellent relationship building skills and customer focused
Strong problem solving, project management, and time management skills
Strong analytical skills and ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Executive presence and ability to interact with senior executives
Demonstrated ability to persuasively present complex business issues and solutions clearly, and concisely
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access) and reporting applications. Expert level in Excel.
Strong attention to detail
Proactive and possess a hands-on, collaborative working style. Takes initiative.
Results oriented with a high standard for quality and performance, strong work ethic, able to prioritize and resolve an array of issues simultaneously
Proficient knowledge of GAAP/Accounting Principles
International experience is a plus
Previous work experience in financial planning and analysis preferred
Required Education :
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Accounting
Preferred Education :
CPA or MBA preferred
High proficiency in SAP preferred
COGNOS experience preferred
