The Walt Disney Company Senior Manager - Corp Communications (Project Hire) in Burbank, California

Disney General Entertainment is responsible for supplying programming to all of The Walt Disney Company’s distribution platforms through its creative brands ABC Entertainment, ABC News, Disney Branded Television, Freeform, FX, Hulu Originals, Onyx Collective and National Geographic, and television studios 20th Television and ABC Signature. These units create, produce and market iconic and critically acclaimed programming that feeds the company’s streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu and Star, and its cable and broadcast networks. During the 2020-2021 season, the group produced the No. 1 scripted series across 14 different streamers and networks, and garnered a combined total of 205 Emmy Award nominations across daytime, primetime and news segments.

The Senior Manager, Corporate Communications for Disney General Entertainment Content will support both proactive and reactive opportunities to elevate and strengthen reputation and recognition of the business and company. The role will be responsible for facilitating the development of business narratives, advising on external engagement opportunities of subject matter experts across our teams, and working closely with internal stakeholders to deepen the understanding of the collective differentiation as part of The Walt Disney Company.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced communications professional with a track record of driving success in a fast-paced environment, a strong ability to cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and have exceptional and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities :

  • Facilitate and implement communications opportunities that advance DGE’s business goals in a way that establishes, expands and enhances the organization’s brand awareness and reputation both internally and externally.

  • Manage execution for communication efforts that shape and promote DGE with employees, stakeholders, press and the public, and routinely measure success in alignment with broader brand strategies and the vision and goals of leadership.

  • Provide insights and impact reports around communications activations to influence and guide future strategies and priorities.

  • Oversee vetting and support of opportunities for subject matter experts to represent the company, our teams at key internal and external events.

  • Develop communications support material to prepare management for strategic engagements with media, stakeholders and employees.

  • Work in complete collaboration with the VP Corporate Communications, DGE Internal Communications, and Executive Communications teams on identifying and developing strategic communications initiatives.

  • Maintain DGE’s key highlights, accolades and issues-based talking points to support TWDC regulatory reporting, DGE executive engagements, and media prep.

  • Align with and support broader initiatives, priorities and values of The Walt Disney Company.

Basic Qualifications :

  • A minimum of 7+ years of experience leading portions of corporate communications strategy and execution

  • Strong experience with messaging and brand reputation

  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to grasp and translate complex and disparate ideas into a cohesive editorial with clear key messaging

  • Ability to pre- and post-mortem communications activations and recommend future opportunities for impact

  • An inclusive leader with demonstrated experience guiding, motivating and developing top talent

  • Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs

  • Fluent in digital communication mediums and multi-channel communications strategies

  • Deep experience with Microsoft Office suite, PowerPoint and/or Keynote

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ideal candidate will have working experience in internal and external communications functions.

  • Superior operational execution in development of plans, milestones and metrics that align with business objectives.

  • Ability to collaborate across teams and varying priorities to maintain alignment on vision, strategy, and performance to goals.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively optimize the outcome through a focused hypothesis, thoughtful plan, creative execution, analytical feedback, critical thinking, solutions orientation, and agile adjustment.

  • A dedication to transparency of the journey and use of iterative cycles to support continuous learning and improve outcomes.

  • Sets a high bar for results through repeatable, sustainable processes.

  • Persuasiveness and the ability to logically make a case that helps others arrive at the right decision for the business; shows persistence in raising issues to the proper levels for attention.

Required Education :

  • Bachelor’s degrees from an accredited university, or equivalent work experience in communications, journalism, media relations or related field
