The Walt Disney Company Sr. Network Engineer - Animation Studios in Burbank, California

In this role, you will partner with artists, production leadership, technical directors, other systems and software engineers, and technology leadership on the design and implementation of network infrastructure services motivated by the needs of film production at Walt Disney Animation Studios.

This role is responsible for ongoing monitoring, support, and maintenance of networks inside and outside of Walt Disney Animation Studios. The position will also involve the implementation of new technologies and projects. The Sr. Network Engineer will be expected to provide technical support and ensure operational support and maintenance. You will apply company policies and procedures and follow best practices in resolving issues. This will involve complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. A successful candidate has knowledge and skills necessary to select, connect, configure and troubleshoot various networking devices including but not limited to Layer 3 Switches, Routers, Network Security Devices, Load Balancers, IP Routing, Wireless Controllers and Access Points, Firewalls, and Point-To-Point Connections.

Network engineers are highly supportive of each other, expected to demonstrate self-direction when needed, and learn through experiencing both success and failure. You must be comfortable supporting your team by bringing fresh insight for shared problem solving. Also critical to success in this role is the ability to build trusted relationships with technical and non-technical users to understand their needs and pain points intimately, and deliver relevant solutions.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Five or more years of network engineering experience in a professional environment

  • Advanced knowledge of networking technologies:

  • Layer 1 technologies such as structured cabling, CWDM, DWDM

  • Layer 2 protocols such as VLAN Tagging, Dynamic VLAN Assignment

  • Layer 3 routing protocols such as EIGRP, BGP, OSPF

  • Layer 4+ services such as NAT, DNS, SIP

  • Professional working knowledge of Linux and OSX

  • Familiarity with network analysis and performance tools

  • Excellent Communication skills and strong customer-service orientation

  • Scripting experience with Python or Bash

  • Ability to multitask in a highly complex, diverse, production environment

  • Highly self-directed, being able to both manage and prioritize the multiple concurrent and competing challenges; demonstrated analytical problem solving skills

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field; or comparable industry experience
