20th Digital Studios is looking for a VP, Production and Business Development and Operations. The VP, Production and Business Operations is a key executive in the operations of 20th Digital Studios, a small studio within Disney General Entertainment, focusing on producing low budget feature length genre films, as well as digital shorts that serve both as bite-sized content and as proof of concept to develop into feature length projects.
This position will deliver compelling programming that meets creative expectations by facilitating leadership, communication, thinking strategically, and providing support to business partners. This person will report directly into the Head of 20th Digital Studios and manage a team of direct reports.
Production and Business Operations
Lead and manage all physical production and business operations for 20th Digital Studios, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with internal teams across the company and in the wider external community to staff productions and operations as needed.
Draft, implement and oversee comprehensive production and post-production plans for all long-form content including active features slate. Provide regular reporting to ensure reliability and growth across personnel, workflows, and infrastructure, with a specific focus on operations and post-production. Serve as the supervising and on-site production executive-in-charge for all active feature films, hiring and overseeing external line producers.
Partner with Head across internal teams (Production, Post-Production, Finance, Creative, Ad-Sales, Copyright) and external partners (Hulu, Star, Film Festivals & Markets) to ideate, develop, and evaluate new business and strategic opportunities while managing existing lines of business.
Oversee and manage teams to carry-out project-by-project budgeting and scheduling for all active content production.
Identify key domestic and foreign tax incentive opportunities, overseeing the application process to ensure maximum benefit.
This person will grow and supervise the operations management of post-production including supervision of post-production contractors to ensure short and long-form content and metadata flows seamlessly to our internal and external partners.
Work with executive team and consultants to provide leadership when establishing a roadmap to set up and standardize workflow automation for marketing and content supply chain.
Oversee graphic designers and trailer editors to properly visualize, package, and deliver projects in the creative pipeline.
Drive front-line negotiation of talent contracts and PSAs with third-parties, seamlessly handing off closed deals to legal to draft and finalize long-form. Work closely with and oversee the long-form phase alongside legal.
Provide leadership and support across partner engagement and collaborate with teams to develop new domestic and foreign partnerships.
Partner with producers and executives to identify creative talent at all levels for opportunities across DGE.
Liaise with reps, filmmakers, and talent to ensure that projects stay aligned from development to production to delivery.
Lead day-to-day business affairs issues for current programming and active productions in collaboration with legal.
10+ years’ combined production and post-production management experience in media and entertainment, with an established track record of championing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Seasoned industry executive with leadership experience managing small and large internal teams to carry-out the production and post-production of short films and feature length films.
Experience leading and growing talent and direct reports of teams of six or more.
Strong working knowledge of business operations.
Exceptional front-line negotiation skills and working business development acumen.
Basic working knowledge of post-production content tools such as the Avid and Adobe Creative Suite including Adobe Premiere and After Effects to ensure proper oversight of post-production operations.
Knowledge of designing, interpreting, and reporting data analysis to help streamline operational success in key areas such as production and finance. Familiarity with statistical forecasting software and toolkits helpful.
