The Walt Disney Company Technical Director Intern, Character Model/Rig – Winter 2020 in Emeryville, California
Build organic models and environments using both manual and procedural techniques.
Work with the Technical Leads to review and revise work, as necessary, to gain Production Designer and Director approval.
Implement modeling and shading variations to provide desired looks for the particular character being built.
Build clean and efficient assets, and support downstream departments.
Familiar with programming in C/C++ and/or a scripting language such as Python.
You demonstrate an understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, lighting, texture, and form.
Enjoy following art direction as well as being able to take initiative.
Have an ability to visualize a three-dimensional character derived from two-dimensional drawings.
You are familiar with 3D software packages like Maya, Houdini, Katana, RenderMan, etc.
Experience using Unix/Linux systems
You are working towards a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, Digital Art or a related field; recent grads who are within one year of graduation are also eligible to apply.
You are able to demonstrate a sense of aesthetic via your online demo reel
You are available to work full-time Mon-Fri for 12-weeks between January 2020 – April 2020
