About the Role & Team

Disney’s Direct to Consumer team oversees the Hulu and Disney+ streaming businesses within Disney Entertainment helping to bring The Walt Disney Company’s best-in-class storytelling to fans and families everywhere.

The Disney+ Programming team is responsible for leading content planning, scheduling, on-service merchandising, and slate management across our iconic brands, including Walt Disney Animation Studios, Walt Disney Pictures, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Pixar, Disney Branded Television, National Geographic, 20th Century Studios, and Searchlight Pictures.

Within the larger team, Programming Insights is an audience-centric team focused on developing insights & programming strategies to help us acquire, engage, and retain global subscribers.

These efforts all feed into our larger content and business strategy. In collaboration with other internal teams, we:

  • Identify what global subscribers need to join, engage with, and stay on Disney+ Drive analyses to better understand how our titles, portfolios, and brands are serving our global audience’s needs.

  • Work with on-service platform metrics to identify how best to serve the right content to the right audience, at the right time.

What You Will Do

Reporting into the Director, Programming Insights, the Senior Manager will play a pivotal role in enhancing our Programming strategies by gaining deep insights into how our content serves our subscribers and influences Disney+’s success.

The Senior Manager will spearhead our ongoing efforts in analyzing in-flight titles as well as the broader portfolios of content across our core brands and Disney Entertainment Television. As a senior member of the Programming Insights team, this role will foster close collaboration and alignment with various internal research and analytics teams (including Data Science, Consumer Insights, CP&A, Business Operations, and Product Analytics). The Senior Manager will use inputs from these teams to cultivate a strategic perspective on how our content and brands are serving the needs of our audience, while also identifying opportunities to generate more engagement from our subscribers.

We’re seeking someone who not only understands data but can also create a compelling narrative around it and add strategic perspective to inform decision-making across Programming, Direct-to-Consumer (DTC), and Studio leadership. This role also involves actively contributing to our team culture, which promotes continuous learning and knowledge sharing, diversity of thoughts and expression, and the open exchange of ideas from all contributors.

This role will:

  • Lead the development of actionable, contextualized, and cross-functional reporting and insights, tailored to optimize our Programming strategy, and inform decision-making at the most senior levels.

  • Develop innovative methodologies and perspectives to help us understand the value of content for our audiences and our service.

  • Regularly meet and align with our cross-functional partners (Data Science, Consumer Insights, CP&A, Product Analytics) to effectively plan work and spear-head new projects.

  • Provide training and mentorship to members of the Programming Insights team, while also fostering knowledge-sharing efforts across the broader Programming team

  • Stay current with industry trends impacting the SVOD landscape.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 8+ years of content analytics experience within entertainment

  • Experience evaluating and assessing the performance of titles, content portfolios, and broader entertainment brands.

  • Knowledge of industry and audience trends impacting the SVOD landscape

  • 2+ years of people management experience

  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring a team of analysts, while fostering an inclusive environment

  • Outstanding storytelling and communication skills, coupled with the ability to translate data into meaningful and easily accessible insights that are tailored to our stakeholders.

  • Genuine passion and a deep curiosity about the entertainment industry and the streaming landscape

  • Adeptness in going beyond the data to explore the strategic implications of this data.

  • Experience with the Google Suite and the Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Data Visualization is a plus.

  • Tableau and Looker experience is ideal.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

  • MBA a plus

The hiring range for this position in CA is $123,000.00 to $165,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
