The Walt Disney Company Sr. Financial Reporting Analyst (Walt Disney World) in Lake Buena Vista, Florida
About the Role and Team:
Financial Reporting is the organization within the Disney Experiences (DX) Controllership that leads and facilitates the segment’s financial reporting processes, including the production of all deliverables and supporting analysis for SEC reporting and segment management reporting. In addition, the team has direct responsibility over the financial statement consolidation of the individual financial reporting processes for business areas within the parks and resorts segment. Specifically, the Domestic Parks Financial Reporting Team prepares monthly, quarterly and year-to-date financial statements and analyzes variances to forecast, plan, and prior year. Typical responsibilities of a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst include completing recurring monthly financial reporting deliverables, quarter-end tasks, and other projects as assigned by Management.
This Senior Financial Reporting Analyst supports the Disney Parks – Walt Disney World Financial Reporting Team. This position plays an integral role in Financial Reporting’s recurring financial close process by providing support in the areas of journal entry review, G/L accounts reconciliation preparation, and analyses of G/L accounts and variances.
What You Will Do:
Supports the Disney Parks – Walt Disney World Team
Partners with various line of business partners to provide accounting guidance and journal entry and hierarchy assistance
Processes journal entries, prepares account reconciliations and assists with ad-hoc reporting requests and/or projects related to the financial statements and technical accounting guidance
Performs various control and compliance procedures, including but not limited to: account reconciliations, journal entries, financial statement hierarchy maintenance, financial statement variance explanations, Minimum Control Standards questionnaires, and legal entity reporting
Supports business decisions with financial information and analysis
Completes monthly/quarterly close processes and prepares supporting financial statement analysis for Segment and Corporate executives
Ensures compliance with GAAP and SOX guidelines
Assists with interim and year end Accounting Firm audits
Identifies process improvements and leads various efficiency projects
Acts as a coach and mentor for other team members
Required Qualifications & Skills:
At least 3 years of Accounting experience
Strong knowledge of general accounting, internal controls, and close process
Ability to prepare and present information to support decision making
Strong analytical and writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
Good interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
Core fundamental knowledge required to assess reasonableness of business partners variance explanations
Strong working knowledge of PC-based software applications, including Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to plan and prioritize work and handle multiple priorities
Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
Identifies process improvement opportunities and provides solutions
Ability to be flexible with work schedule
Ability to perform well in a fast paced environment
SAP and consolidation systems experience
Experience with SEC filings
Technical accounting writing and research
Proven ability to interpret accounting guidance and apply to business scenarios to help in management decision making
Experience leading people
Master’s degree in Accounting or MBA
Education:
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or equivalent
