The Walt Disney Company Sr Software Engineer in Lake Buena Vista, Florida

The Senior Software Engineer will have an extensive background in software engineering with excellent solution design skills and also works as a DevOps, support and maintenance of a large custom applications.

The Senior Software Engineer must have the ability to communicate effectively with software engineering teams at a technical level and effectively communicate with non-technical team members to ensure all constituents have a complete and accurate understanding of solutions being developed. The Senior Software Engineer must have the ability to document processes, procedures, and best practices for the supported platforms and have the ability to filter and facilitate prioritization with stakeholders. The role will interface a variety of other teams within the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Technology group including: Reference Architecture, Solution Engineering, Systems Engineering, Global Quality Engineering, Performance Engineering, Enterprise Technology and various delivery studios.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or related equivalent experience

  • Five to eight years of progressively related experience in design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, high-volume software systems and components, client-facing web applications, and major Internet-oriented applications and systems

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with diverse audience in a technical and non-technical manner.

  • Strong understanding of multiple development methodologies including Agile.

  • Strong understanding of test automation benefits.

  • Experience working with UC4, API Gateways, Globalscape events/rules configuration and troubleshooting file transfer issues

  • 5+ years of experience with:

  • Java

  • JavaScript and other Scripting Languages

  • XML, JSON

  • APIs (SOAP & REST)

  • Agile methodology

  • JUnit

  • Spring

  • APIM

  • 3+ years of experience with:

  • Jira

  • GIT

  • Responsible for design, development and delivery of custom service-based applications in Java.

  • Responsible for epics and stories development in Jira or similar project management tools. Also, responsible for filtering issues and prioritizing future enhancements as well as assigning them to sprint and release.

  • Responsible for defining and documenting technology best practices for source control, code development, continuous integration and release management.

  • Recommends improvements to processes, technology, and interfaces that improve the effectiveness of the team.

  • Responsible for Release Management, Service Management and build configuration in highly integrated environment while using DevOps tools like Jenkins, Rundeck, Bamboo, uDeploy, UC4, API gateways, AppDynamics and Splunk.

  • Strong understanding of software engineering and developing applications with a sense of forward and backward compatibility being considered in designs.

  • Responsible to support overnight releases (deployment and validations)

  • Experience building dashboards and with an understanding of logging best practices, log aggregation with tools such as Splunk.

  • Maintain excellent knowledge of methodologies to create alerts, dashboards, proactive monitoring to support sustainment teams.

  • Develop and maintain new custom software and systems, typically for high traffic services or key infrastructure.

  • Help with sustainment activities like proactive monitoring and on call support for high priority incidents.

Required Education :
