JOB DESCRIPTION

The Media & Software Solutions team is defining the next gen technology roadmap for 21CF Networks Engineering and Operations (NE&O) media supply chain. NE&O is a 24/7 mission critical operation that supports content production and distribution over several networks that are part Walt Disney Television including FX and National Geographic.

The Media Engineering team is responsible for developing architectures and solutions related to media management, processing, workflows and distribution. The Media Engineering team is looking for someone with experience in working with media related technologies and processes. The candidate will be comfortable working in a live Broadcast environment while managing time critical media workflows.

Position Summary

The Software Engineer reports to the Director Media Technology & Architecture and works across NE&O teams to help define, develop and manage media supply chain, processes and applications across the Enterprise.

The NE&O Media Engineering team is looking for someone to provide technical support to run Media Applications and perform research and development.

Specific Job duties include:

  • Configuring media processing systems/applications

  • Develop and support Web and API based solutions

  • Work with Engineering, project and Operations teams and vendors to gather requirements

  • Work with Software Engineering in support of development work

  • Work with TECHOPS and Release Management in support of app deployments

  • Scripting and development workcfor cloud-native solutions

  • Training Sustaining and Operations on newly introduced technologies

  • Research and development to on future technologies

Qualifications

  • Full-stack web application developer with experience in HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, Node.JS, Python

  • Writes clean, modular code and is experienced with OOP and design patterns

  • Strong knowledge of Linux, MAC OSX, and Windows

  • Strong knowledge of media and broadcast

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline

  • Familiarity with front-end libraries such as Vue, React and Angular

  • Good knowledge of Java, Groovy scripting, SQL RDB, NO-SQL, XSLT, XML

  • Basic knowledge of IPV4 and IPV6 and IP sub-netting

  • Basic understanding of virtual machine clusters and hardware

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services/Google Cloud Platform.
