Job Summary:

The Walt Disney Company launched Disney+, a Disney-branded streaming service in 2019 featuring an incomparable collection of content from its brands and franchises recognized and respected all over the world. The direct-to-consumer (DTC) service serves as the exclusive home for viewing original movies, series, short-form and bonus content along with a vibrant catalogue that spans classic Disney animation to the most recent movie releases.

We’re looking for a talented, team-oriented Program Manager to join our team, supporting major infrastructure program initiatives for both the Disney family (Disney+, ESPN+, HULU) and supported partner streaming services (MLB & NHL). The Enterprise Program Manager (Infrastructure) will ensure projects / programs are defined, tracked and communicated in a concise, consistent and effective manner. They incorporate effective change, risk and issue management controls. They review and understand partner portfolio business cases and are responsible for organizing all projects / programs within the portfolio(s) to ensure on-time delivery, budget compliance and that all business objectives are achieved.

The Enterprise Program Manager (Infrastructure) will help ensure the successful completion and implementation of key strategic initiatives that the company undertakes through identifying, tracking, managing and resolving project issues or risks in a timely manner. In addition, the role is responsible for communicating, preparing and disseminating management reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide the required infrastructure knowledge, oversight, project management, cross-functional coordination, and inter / intra team communications to deliver outstanding program outcomes.

  • Provide cross team coordination of Infrastructure projects such as upgrades, equipment migrations and data center implementation or decommissioning.

  • Partner with the various teams, serving as an overall integration function for the program to ensure streamlined logistics and facilities management.

  • Work closely with numerous infrastructure, delivery, operations, quality control and engineering teams to ensure high-quality capabilities / services are built and handed off to downstream teams in a consistent and timely manner.

  • Support the build-up of facilities, infrastructure and networking infrastructure.

  • Ensure all gear / materials are ordered, received and installed per schedule.

  • Manage budget, change order requests and coordinate finance approval.

  • Coordinate technicians, subcontractors and engineering resources.

  • Create & maintain project documentation (single source of truth about the project) that provides a clear overview of project timelines, (Gantt charts, spreadsheets, etc.) activities, potential risks / issues using task management tools (primarily Jira).

  • Track and manage dependencies across multiple projects; lead escalation processes to make issues visible to stakeholders and leadership and drive resolution of dependency issues through the process.

  • Lead the overall project stage gate review process, through conducting readiness assessments to identifying gaps in readiness throughout the project life cycle.

  • Establish project and portfolio scoring systems to evaluate and measure performance against formalized criteria.

  • Implement standards, processes, practices, project status reporting and resource management methodologies that ensures projects are delivered in alignment with expectations, schedule and budget.

  • Continuously monitor program / project impact on customer relations.

  • Collaborate with EPM team to refine existing methodologies, develop enhancements / changes that result in efficient, repeatable delivery.

  • Coach team members regarding unexpected variances, root causes, corrective actions / options and impacts.

  • Ensure proper execution of risk, issue and communication management by your team of project managers, if applicable.

  • Own the project communication, escalate risks and manage issue resolution.

  • Develop trusted partnerships with stakeholders by working closely with all constituents to manage demand and prioritize programs / projects based on business need, resource capacity, risk exposure and inter-dependencies while collaborating and providing delivery based on common goals.

  • ‘Dissuade’ project teams from “reinventing the wheel” by being the knowledge center for best practices, processes, templates, lessons learned and historical project documentation

Basic Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with infrastructure construction management terminology and projects.

  • Deep understanding of how architecture and technology planning affect all elements of project planning and execution.

  • General knowledge of streaming media technology infrastructure (network, broadcast, encoding, segmenting, storage, monitoring devices).

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills which includes the ability to develop project plans, allocate resources, identify potential issues / risks and develop contingency plans with an overall orientation focused on execution and detail.

  • Ability to manage projects that establish clear goals and accountabilities ensuring successful delivery (on time, within budget, meeting agreed upon success criteria).

  • Program Lifecycle Disciplines: Strong knowledge of the integrated systems lifecycle development utilizing different – and sometimes – multiple development models (e.g., agile, waterfall, hybrid, etc.).

  • Experience applying project management knowledge to assess complex situations, recommend options, and drive team members / stakeholders towards common solutions.

  • Ability to operate effectively across multiple organizational and functional areas.

  • Demonstrated ability in clearly articulating plans, concepts and activities to a broad / diverse audience (Sr. executives, technical staff, business leads).

  • Ability to excel and operate in a collaborative work environment.

  • Proven experience overseeing the day-to-day activities of staff in a complex, fast-changing environment. (if applicable)

  • At least 2 years of experience with technical infrastructure, equipment, procedures and tools (network gear, fiber optic / copper cabling, pathways, riser spaces, IDF / MDFs and data centers).

  • At least 3 years of experience in live and/or VOD media streaming industries.

  • At least 5 years of experience in a lead or leadership role in a large complex, dynamic and technical environment.

  • At least 7 years demonstrated experience leading cross-functional organizations in the successful completion of assigned deliverables.
