The role of Production Designer is part of DTG’s Creative Services department providing layout design with a primary focus on DTG’s Licensing business and additional support for the Brand and Marketing teams.

A successful candidate must have a depth of creative knowledge, tasteful design aesthetic, excellent communication skills and proven experience producing high quality content. The main responsibilities of this role will focus on the production layout and graphic design of printed materials for Disney’s catalogue of stage musicals developed for elementary and middle school aged students, amateur theatre productions, professional theatre productions and other materials to support the growing theatrical licensing business.

The ideal candidate is highly skilled in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop who possesses a creative and collaborative spirit.

Responsibilities:

Production Art, Layout and Graphic Design

  • Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Creative Services, work with DTG Licensing Team to lay out print materials for licensing titles including such layouts as Director’s Guides, Actor’s Scripts, Piano/Vocal Scores, CD/DVD labels, Production Handbooks, and other support materials to facilitate plays and musicals from the Disney catalogue.

  • Build supplemental graphics and artwork for licensing materials, including digital media, social content, emails, and presentations for marketing and advertising uses.

  • Templatize and maintain InDesign documents, inclusive of character and layout styles, to establish consistency within Disney catalog of licensing business.

  • Design and execute trade show environments, exhibits, and promotional materials.

  • Build assets that are built to spec, on time, and are print and build ready.

  • Participate in layout sign-off, press proofing, and color proofing.

  • Work with the Brand and Marketing teams to create assets for Broadway and North American tour properties, The Lion King and Aladdin , including emails, key art resizes, advertisements, and social collateral.

Style Guide Management

  • Review and design materials for brand and style guide accuracy.

  • When required, draft and maintain style guides for new licensed titles and update style guides for existing titles.

Asset Management

  • Responsible for maintaining history of previous layouts and following approved routing process.

  • Actively participate in the creative workflow process to gain maximum efficiency in the review and approval of materials.

  • Organize and maintain digital files for easy and clear access for stakeholders.

  • Responsible for cataloging and ingesting all materials in Digital Asset Management System.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Highly skilled in Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.

  • 3 - 5 years of experience as layout artist preferably in a print publication capacity.

  • Experience in corporate identity or branding.

  • Possess a creative and collaborative spirit with versatile design aesthetic that can accommodate multiple styles and projects.

  • Efficient and quick working individual with commitment to create excellent work.

  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to receive feedback from multiple stakeholders and execute notes thoroughly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ Years of Production Design experience

  • Working knowledge of inclusive graphic design practices (e.g. accessible fonts, color contrast, etc.)

The hiring range for this position in New York is $63,300 to $81,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
